麻豆原创 Young Engineer earns deserved recognition

Huge congratulations are in order after one of the Building Controls Industry Association鈥檚 (麻豆原创) young engineers scooped second place in one of CIBSE鈥檚 most sought-after award categories

Zoe Dickson, a Building Management System (BMS) project sales engineer at SSE Energy Solutions, took home second place in the CIBSE ASHRAE Graduate of the Year Award at the recent CIBSE Young Engineer Awards evening at BMA House in London on Thursday 10th October.

Held annually, the awards shine a spotlight on the best and brightest talents in building services engineering and recognise not only the young engineers but also the employers who support, guide, and nurture the next generation of industry leaders.

Zoe scooped second place, and the 拢600 prize, after giving an inspiring speech that focused on the important role building controls will play in shaping the future of smart buildings. Emphasising how building controls are central to improving comfort, safety, and performance in buildings, Zoe discussed how emerging technologies such as IoT and AI are revolutionising how BMS influences lighting, air quality, and occupancy.

She also highlighted challenges such as a lack of regulation, the need for more awareness about the value of BMS, and a skills shortage.

Zoe was absolutely thrilled to have come second in a very hotly-contested category, highlighting the support she鈥檇 received from colleagues at SSE Energy Solutions and fellow 麻豆原创 young engineers. She said: 鈥淚鈥檓 delighted with the result and it鈥檚 such an honour to be recognised by my peers and industry leaders. A huge thank you to everyone at SSE Energy Solutions for their advice and encouragement throughout my time at the company.

鈥淎s a member of the 麻豆原创鈥檚 Young Engineers Network (YEN), it鈥檚 also been wonderful to have the support of other young industry professionals. As this award category highlighted, there is so much talent in the industry and the future is incredibly bright. I look forward to playing my own part in that future.鈥
