Ron Purcell, Chair of Judges
Vice President, Âé¶¹Ô´´ and Product Portfolio Manager, Siemens
Ron is currently Vice President of the Âé¶¹Ô´´, a controls professional with over 40 years of experience in BEMS. Currently serving as Product Portfolio Manager at Siemens, he has held senior roles in technical consultancy, business development, and project management and as an engineer.
Starting his career as an apprentice, Ron is passionate about mentoring and supporting the next generation of engineers. He is an Affiliate Member of CIBSE and actively contributes to industry development through training, technical publications, and standards.
Outside of work, Ron enjoys scuba diving, hill walking, and volunteering in his local community.

Stacey Lucas
Immediate Past President, Âé¶¹Ô´´ and Commercial and Marketing Director, Sontay
Stacey is currently Immediate Past President of the Âé¶¹Ô´´ and has worked for Sontay since 2001. Since then she has caught the ‘Building Controls Bug’ and is ever more excited about the new technologies embraced by the industry and the future that lies ahead.
By working her way up through Customer Service and Sales, she has built long lasting relationships with many of their customers. The knowledge and insight learned over the years has given Stacey a brilliant knowledge base and high level of technical understanding of the building controls sector.

Graeme Rees
Global EcoXpert Leader - Building Automation & Security, Schneider Electric
Graeme has been involved in the building controls industry for more than 30 years. Starting his career as a Project Engineer at Lidworth Ltd, he moved on to Bristol Management Systems before spending 19 years at Trend Control Systems, where he worked his way up from Regional Field Services Manager to Marketing Director.
Since 2019, Graeme has served on Âé¶¹Ô´´â€™s Management Committee and is a past President of the association.
He is passionate about industry standards, professionalism and innovation.

Andy Camsell
Technical Consultant, Âé¶¹Ô´´
Andy has worked in the building services industry since 1986, starting as an air conditioning engineer and expanding his skills in installation, maintenance, and commissioning. He entered the BMS sector in the mid-1990s, taking on engineering and leadership roles with contractors, technology providers, and manufacturers, including as Technical Manager at Sontay. In 2006, Andy co-founded a control systems contracting business, serving as managing director until 2014 before moving into contract consultancy.
Recent roles include managing EMEA critical systems environmental monitoring for a large investment bank and building services commissioning for a London research facility. He’s passionate about innovation and the convergence of sensing and IT within the IoT. Andy delivers Âé¶¹Ô´´â€™s training on behalf of Sontay Academy.

Andy Reakes
Chief Operating Officer, Joint Industry Board
Andy Reakes is Chief Operating Officer of the Joint Industry Board (JIB) and Electrotechnical Certification Scheme (ECS), leading national initiatives to strengthen workforce competence, digital verification, and professional standards in the electrotechnical and built environment sectors. With over a decade of leadership in skills, certification, and industry collaboration, Andy has deep expertise in innovation, quality, and people development.
He chairs the CSCS Smart Check development group, is a member of the Electrotechnical Assessment Specification (EAS) Management Committee, Director of The Electrotechnical Skills Partnership (TESP), and Vice President of the Electrical Industries Charity, reflecting his dedication to raising standards and supporting industry people and performance.

Brian Fugeti
Smart Buildings Consultant, Foster + Partners
Brian Fugeti is a Smart Buildings Consultant with Foster + Partners, specialising in intelligent buildings, building controls, digital transformation, and workplace technology. He works with building owners and occupiers to improve operational performance, sustainability outcomes, and user experience through the effective use of technology, data, and automation. Brian serves as Vice-Chair of the CIBSE IT & Controls Group and is a Committee Member of the CIBSE Intelligent Buildings Group. He is also a member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and contributes to international smart city and sustainability initiatives through the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and United for Smart Sustainable Cities (U4SSC).
Brian is an active STEM and Climate Ambassador, supporting the development of future engineering talent.

Caroline Fright
Managing Director, Carbon Numbers
Caroline Fright is co-founder of Carbon Numbers, responsible for guiding the strategic direction, operational performance and long-term growth of the business. With a background spanning finance, policy and organisational planning, she ensures the company remains focused on delivering innovative, data-driven energy management solutions that reduce carbon, cut costs and improve building environments. Caroline oversees the development of key initiatives, maintaining Carbon Numbers’ commitment to high standards, ISO-led governance and measurable client outcomes.

She is passionate about developing talent and championing the industry, working to position it as an attractive and rewarding career path for young people.

Daniel Hartley
Lead Engineer for Building Systems, Manchester Airports Group (MAG)
Daniel is the Lead Engineer for Building Systems at Manchester Airports Group, overseeing Manchester, East Midlands, and Stansted airports. As a Chartered Incorporated Engineer (IEng) with CIBSE, he writes and maintains the Group BEMS design standard and provide technical assurance across projects. Daniel has hands-on experience leading BEMS upgrades and installations, including major transformation programs at Manchester and Stansted.
Daniel is completing a Digital and Technology Solutions degree focused on BEMS data analytics. He is passionate about using BEMS and data analytics to drive organizational goals, especially decarbonisation and sustainability.

Darryl Gregory
Vice President Sales - EMEA, Distech Controls
Darryl Gregory is Vice President of Sales EMEA at Distech Controls, where he leads sales teams across Europe and the Middle East. With over 25 years in BMS and smart buildings, he has held technical, sales, and leadership positions spanning the full customer journey, from project delivery to strategic business development through to post occupancy support.
A passionate advocate for innovation and people development, Darryl is particularly focused on helping the industry move beyond traditional BMS projects towards outcome-driven solutions that improve building performance, energy efficiency, occupant wellbeing, and sustainability.
He is committed to developing the next generation of industry talent and believes stronger collaboration between manufacturers, integrators, consultants, and end users is key to unlocking the full potential of smart buildings.

David Thomas is Service Director at learnd UK, responsible for leading service operations and customer delivery across the UK.
With more than 30 years' experience in the BEMS and building controls industry, David has built a reputation for delivering outstanding customer service, operational excellence, and developing high-performing teams.
He firmly believes that exceptional customer experiences and consistent delivery are the foundation of long-term success and has dedicated his career to helping customers maximise the value of their building technologies.
David is delighted to serve as a Âé¶¹Ô´´ Judge for the 2027 Awards, supporting the recognition of innovation, technical excellence, and emerging talent across the industry.

George Stephens-Clark
BEMS and Intelligent System Design Engineer, InTandem Systems
George is a BEMS and Intelligent System Design Engineer, who joined the industry in June 2024 and has since progressed to designing and implementing control systems for BEMS, alongside conducting site surveys and taking responsibility for equipment assessment and commissioning.
George has also been the project lead for cross-functional initiatives, collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders Alongside this, he has also managed small team attendance and task designation for T Level Students and Apprentices.
His 3rd-year dissertation was awarded IMechE Institution Best Project of the Year and he has featured in the CIBSE Journal 30 under 30 article as a Technical Excellence Engineer.
He believes that, with the right training and support, the opportunities in BEMS are extensive, this outlook was recognised when he won Young Engineer of the Year at the Âé¶¹Ô´´ Awards 2026.

Lee Benford
Head of BMS Projects, Mitie
Lee Benford is Head of BMS at Mitie, leading the national BMS business across projects, engineering operations and technical solutions. With over a decade of experience in building controls, smart buildings and digital technologies, he has progressed through engineering, operational and senior leadership roles, building a strong track record in delivering complex projects and driving business growth.
In his current role, Lee is responsible for the commercial performance, operational delivery and technical capability of a multi-million-pound portfolio.
He is passionate about developing high-performing teams, improving customer outcomes and advancing the role of BMS within the wider digital buildings agenda.
His focus is on helping organisations create smarter, more efficient and connected estates through the effective use of building controls and digital technology.

Michael Burgess
Senior Digital Building Consultant, FPC Global
Michael Burgess is a Senior Digital Building Consultant and technical leader with 17 years’ experience shaping the Smart Buildings sector. His work bridges traditional BMS with emerging technologies, driving adoption of FDD and Smart Building Platforms, and developing advanced digital building use cases for global clients.
Beginning his career as an apprentice BMS engineer, he built expertise across the project lifecycle, from service and commissioning to technical sales and complex solutions. Michael is passionate about pioneering new technologies, mentoring others, and advancing data-driven practices to minimize the built environment’s impact on the planet.

Paul began his BMS career as an apprentice in 2000 and has over 25 years’ experience spanning engineering, commissioning, project management and leadership.
As Co-Founder and Director of PEAC Controls, Paul has helped develop the business with a strong focus on delivering quality BMS solutions, ongoing maintenance and dependable customer support.
Paul is passionate about the continued development of the BMS industry, supporting the next generation of engineers and recognising the people and businesses setting high standards across the sector.

Director, Forfend
A senior business leader and expert in smart, sustainable infrastructure, Steve has a proven track record of helping clients drive value through solutions for wellbeing, smart buildings, and energy efficiency. He specialises in master systems integration, IoT, cyber security, sustainability, remote building management, data analytics, and wellbeing.
Steve’s key strengths include business development, leadership, and people development. Formerly technical director at Siemens and SSE until 2021, Steve is now an independent consultant helping businesses make buildings smart and achieve decarbonisation goals. He supports the final assessments of BEMS apprentices through the end point assessment scheme.
